Eggshell Jewelry 101
By Geneveive Whiteley
Saturday August 19th - 1:30pm - 3:30pm - Borealis Green Room
In this class, we will learn how to create beautiful unique pieces of jewellery.
I will demonstrate:
how to arrange your pieces on the shell to maximize useable space as well as how to successfully cut those pieces out.
I will show you the easiest way to cut out your pieces as well as how to cut smaller eggs in half.
We will go over the tools needed, including types of cutting wheels to use and why dust boxes are a necessity.
I have recently began using UV resin instead of Ecopoxy and it has sped up the process greatly. I will show you how to successfully coat the fronts and backs of your pieces to achieve a durable finish.
I will show you what findings I have used successfully as well as ones that don’t seem to work very well.
For the hands-on part of this class we will:
create mosaic pendants out of a broken Pysanka and this will give you a chance to try out the UV resin and see if it’s something you are interested in continuing to do in the future.
Time permitting I will also demonstrate the process of filling, quail eggs with resin.
Maximum: 25 students
Cost: $25 CAD per student plus $5 material fee. Please pay cash for this workshop at the registration table Thursday morning.
My name is Genevieve and I have been writing eggs for about 20 years and have been making jewellery for about the last six years. My spare time is spent hanging out with my cats, writing eggs, or working in the garden.
