Beyond The Shell: Pysanky on Wood and Plastic - Oksana Bilous - Saturday July 19th - 1:00PM to 3:00PM - $50

Workshop Description:

This workshop will be in Ukrainian using an English translator.

Step into the world of innovative pysanky with Oksana Bilous! In this demo / hands-on workshop, Oksana will share her unique process and expert tips for creating beautiful pysanky on wooden and plastic eggs—two surfaces that offer new possibilities beyond the traditional eggshell. 

Learn how to adapt your techniques, choose the right tools and materials, and achieve vibrant, lasting designs on these uncommon canvases. Whether you’re a seasoned pysankarka or new to alternative surfaces, you’ll leave inspired and ready to take your egg art “beyond the shell.”

Oksana Bilous will demonstrate her technique, so bring your camera, take photos, videos and ask lots of questions. She will also share all her extra knowledge on all things pysanky!

About Oksana Bilous:

Oksana Bilous is an acclaimed Ukrainian pysankarka known for her mastery of both traditional and innovative egg decorating techniques, including etching, cutting, and mixed methods on various bird eggs. Born in Kyiv in 1965, she holds a degree in geography and biology education and has been a leader in the pysanky community, co-authoring influential instructional books and curating major collections of Ukrainian folk pysanky. Her works have been exhibited internationally, and she is recognized as an Honoured Master of Folk Art of Ukraine. Oksana is also the founder of “The Workshop of Oksana Bilous,” where she teaches and shares Ukrainian decorative arts with students of all ages.
