Lorrie is an IEAG Master Egg Artist, who especially loves writing the Easter Egg style known in Ukraine as pysanky and one of my favourite people.
Pick up all four of Lorrie's books here. I only have 7 sets available and won't be getting any more in. I was able to bring some books home with me after seeing Lorrie at the "Pysanky On The River" - POTR retreat in Berea, Ohio in October.
They can also be found on Lulu.com or on Amazon.com. but you'll find them slightly lower in price here.
Lorrie Popow is from Hot Springs, Arkansas and has been an egg artist for over 60 years. She has achieved a Master of Egg Art from IEAG (International Egg Art Guild) in the specialties of filigree, decoupage, etched, and pysanky. Lorrie has represented the state of Arkansas at the White House's Easter egg display, plus she was named the Art Council of Arkansas' Living Treasure for 2015. Her artwork appears in several museums around the world. While Lorrie loves all aspects of egg art, she finds herself drawn to the art of pysanky the most. This love for Ukrainian Easter eggs goes back to her childhood days living near Polish and Ukrainian neighborhoods of Chicago, Illinois. Her mentor was Marie Brama from the Delta Store in the Ukrainian Village section of Chicago. While Lorrie herself doesn't have any Eastern European heritage, her husband, Tom, comes from a Ukrainian family. To preserve and promote the art of pysanky, Lorrie has written several tutorial books. She also has a YouTube channel dedicated primarily to demonstrating how to create Ukrainian-style eggs.
