What are the pros and cons of using a silicone plug to seal the drain hole?

Pros

• No white ring around the drain hole that you often get from using beeswax.
• Plugs are reusable
• Plugs can be easily removed or reinserted as required.

Cons

• Egg drain hole must be round and uncracked.
• Plugs can damage the hole if not inserted or removed properly. To avoid damage, insert or remove the plug gently, turning the plug as you go. Don't use excessive force.
• Plugs can apply force around the hole during dyeing. Make sure your dye jar has room to accommodate the egg with a plug.
