Beeswax is the only type of wax to use when making Pysanky—Ukrainian Easter Eggs—or other batik style eggs because it's the only kind of wax that sticks to the egg shell. Beeswax has a high melting point that melts cleanly in the kistka without any smoke. This also aids in writing consistent smooth lines.
Ukrainian EggCessories carries 5 different colours of beeswax sheets in black, blue, dark blue, red, and cloud white. These work well in the electric kistky. Black is the most common choice while the blue and red tend to be easier on the eyes when you’re writing for long periods of time and the natural and cloud white are fun to use since they become transparent after the dye process. You might not see your lines as clearly when you write your wax lines, but the colours will show up underneath making the progression of your design easier to see.
Ukrainian EggCessories' Candle Heated Kistky work well with the black, blue and red honeycomb beeswax so that you are able to see your lines on your eggshell.
The beeswax for our honeycomb beeswax sheets comes from Canada and has shown to be the best beeswax that works with our electric and candle-heated traditional kistka tips. The beeswax sheets make it easy to fill the reservoir of the kistka. Just heat up the kistka and then drag the sheet of wax down the side of the reservoir until full or pull the reservoir of the kistka up the side of the sheet of wax. It's as easy as that.
We also carry Ukrainian EggCessories’ new signature bee and honeycomb “bee pucks” in natural and dark 100% beeswax.
