Citric Acid Crystals - 20g

CITRIC ACID Crystals - Pysanka Dye Additive.

Citric Acid is a mild acid used to boost acidity, add brightness, act as a preserver and add strength to pysanka eggshell dye. It can be used as an alternative or a compliment to acetic acid (vinegar). Citric Acid has no ordor.
INSTRUCTIONS:
As an additive: sprinkle 3-4 crystals to an already prepared dye bath with 1T vinegar
To substitute for vinegar: 1.2mL (1/4 tsp) of citric acid crystals dissolved in 15mL (1T) of water is equivalent to 15mL (1T) of 5% vinegar.
For etching: Add the full packet of 20g to 500mL (2c) of 5% or 10% vinegar.

Note: Too many crystals can create bubbles on your eggshell and create an uneven dye coverage.

Warning:

Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Do not ingest or inhale. Keep away from children and pets.

Breathing in citric acid can cause respiratory symptoms, such as a cough, shortness of breath, and a sore throat. Contact with eyes can result in redness and pain, and skin contact may cause redness as well. Also, ingesting citric acid can cause abdominal pain and sore throat. For arts and crafts purposes only, not food grade. Due to these concerns, NIOSH suggests preventative measures for those working with citric acids, such as protecting the skin and eyes and providing appropriate ventilation.
