#01. Up Your Eggs to the Next Level - Nadia Gennings - Thursday July 17th - 10:00am to 12:00pm - registration opens February 1st 2pm eastern

Workshop Summary:

Are you ready to take your pysanky skills to new heights? Join us for "Up Your Eggs to the Next Level," a dynamic and inspiring workshop where you’ll learn how to transform simple egg designs into intricate works of art. This is your chance to elevate your eggs, push your creativity, and discover exciting new techniques that will breathe life into your designs.

In this two-hour hands-on workshop, students will learn: 
How to add lines, bands, borders, wolves teeth, waves and other simple yet effective elements 
that will add complexity to your simply designed pysanka. You will learn how to make waves, and wolves teeth so they look uniform.  
Also as a bonus I will show you the “Ice Cream Cone Division”, a brand-new division invented by me. 
 
What's Provided:
  • A chicken egg divided into eighths
  • A handout full of ideas and tips
  • A handout for the ice-cream cone division
What to bring:
  • Whatever you need to write on a prepared eggshell, including:
    • pencil,
    • Kistka -I recommend electric kistkas with relatively fine tips F, XF
    • beeswax
    • eraser,
    • measuring tape
    • Egg pillow, 
    • Either a goose egg, duck egg or a xxlarge chicken egg but not a pointy egg, it must be oval for the ice cream cone division
    • Smaller suction cups or templates
    • You can also bring one of your favorite pysanky in which you want to elevate to the next level 

Maximum Number of students: 25 students.

Workshop Fee: $35 CAD  (payment in cash will be collected at the retreat. Payment details, will be communicated at a later time)

About Nadia:

Nadia is a self-taught pysankarka who has been immersed in the traditional Ukrainian art of egg decorating since she was just nine years old. Her Ukrainian heritage serves as the cornerstone of her passion, influencing her journey into the world of pysankarstvo. This dedication has seen her create intricate works of art for many years, honing her skills and developing a deep appreciation for this unique craft.

In addition to creating these beautiful pieces, Nadia has a strong commitment to sharing her knowledge. She has taught numerous night school classes, inspiring others to explore the art of pysanky. Even with her extensive experience, Nadia continues to push the boundaries of her craft, constantly experimenting with different forms and teaching herself new techniques. Her journey serves as an inspiration, showcasing the power of passion and cultural heritage in artistic expression.

Nadia lives in Welland, Ontario with her husband of many, many years.
