#03. Acid Etched Eggscapades - Maria Zdaniw - Thursday July 17th - 1:00pm-3:00pm - registration opens February 1st 2pm eastern

Workshop Summary:

The "Acid Etch Eggscapades" workshop is an exciting opportunity for participants to transform eggshells by using acid etching techniques. Focusing on safety first, the session includes an overview of etching products like 10% vinegar and Safe Etch, as well as essential safety practices. Participants will bring their own waxed eggshells, ideally featuring bird-inspired designs to honour the retreat's "Birds of a Feather" theme. Throughout the workshop, attendees will explore the precise art of etching and get to experience etching the shells they bring to class. 

This is a completelyhands-on workshop. Experience is recommended, however, beginners looking for a real challenge will not be disappointed. Take away material with etching instructionsand other pointers will be provided.

What's Provided:
  • nitrile gloves
  • 10% vinegar
  • safe etch
  • safety goggles

What to bring:

  • A variety of eggshells already waxed using heavier kistky sizes. Use larger sizes which are best when creating designs for etching. You can bring a regular chicken eggshell, a brown eggshell and an emu eggshells

Workshop Fee: $35 CAD per person  (payment in cash will be collected at the retreat. Payment details, will be communicated at a later time)

About Maria Zdaniw:
Maria started writing over thirty years ago. She's attended five Pysanky retreats hosted by Ukrainian EggCessories in 2018, 2019, 2022, 2023, 2024 and this year has agreed to instruct. She has slowly started teaching this art of Pysanky and writes hundreds of eggshells each year including chicken eggs, brown eggshells, Emu, Rhea and has many years experience etching shells.
