#06. Egg Shells To _____ For - Susan Otto - Thursday July 17th - 3:30pm - 5:30pm - registration opens February 1st 2pm eastern

Workshop Summary:

Start Your Pysanky Journey by learning about the most suitable eggshell for your designs.

Choosing the right eggshell is the key to creating beautiful pysanky or batik designs. Eggshells come in all shapes, sizes, and textures, each offering different possibilities. Strong eggshells are great for detailed designs, while thinner ones are perfect for bold, colourful patterns. This workshop will show you how to find and prepare the most suitable eggshells for your pysanky designs.

Your instructor, Susan, owns Egg Shells To Dye For and has years of experience cleaning and prepping thousands of eggs. She will share simple cleaning tips, tricks for dealing with stubborn shells, and advice on picking the right eggs for your designs. You’ll get a handout full of helpful information, a peek into the science of eggshells, and answers to all your questions during a Q&A session.

This workshop is beginner-friendly, helping you avoid common mistakes and build confidence. If you already have some experience, you’ll still learn about unique types of eggshells that many artists don’t use. Susan will also gift each participant a couple shells to take home, FROM quail TO goose eggs, so you can practice and explore.

Join us to learn how to prepare your eggshells and reduce frustration, so you can create stunning pysanky and etching designs with confidence!

About Susan Otto:

Вітаємо! U.F.O - Ukrainian from Ontario. Pysanky and Ukrainian culture have been a major part of my life. From the early age of eight years old, writing pysanky became a passion and pride. In the beginning, I was not a pysanka Picasso. Throughout time and with practice, the art became more recognizable, and the finish became much more desirable.

Approximately 7 years ago, I started Egg Shells To Dye For. I began my journey of cleaning and supplying blown-out egg shells. I always found the cleaning process a bit messy and tedious. As a business owner and pysanky writer, it is my contribution to make various blown-out eggs more accessible to egg artists, crafters, educators, and collectors in North America.

It is my desire to stay connected in the pysanky community and to interact with amazing egg artists from around the globe.
