Workshop Summary:
In the Bukovina region of Ukraine and Romania, beautiful eggs are made with colored waxes applied to and left on the eggs. This interesting technique gives a great texture to the eggs: I call them “pysanky for the blind”. In this class you will learn to make the coloured waxes (and even metallic waxes) and apply them using a variety of adorable yet fairly simple bird designs. You will probably want to make several!
What is provided:
A very extensive handout covering the making and use of coloured waxes, several patterns to choose from, as well as all of the wax you will need.
What students need to bring:
Number of students: max 25
Registration price: $35.00 CAD
About Karen:
I have been writing eggs for over 35 years, and over the last 10 years have taught many different styles at egg retreats in Canada and the USA. I also teach classes locally as well as a credit course in Pysanky for the college where I work as Director of Student Services and sessional professor of Psychology. I write pysanky in my “spare time”, and love the peacefulness and prayerfulness of this art! I have 4 wonderful grown children and 4 adorable grandchildren.
