Pysanky Toronto is a four day immersive rereat for those who love to write pysanky, Ukrainian Easter eggs or other batik style designed eggs. Many who attend are connected through the online Facebook egging groups and customers of Ukrainian EggCessories.

All levels welcome (basic knowledge highly recommended). This is the only pysanka retreat of its kind in Canada, and draws attendees from all over North America and internationally as well.

Our egging rooms and accommodations will be in the same building. This is a fabulous location and close to everything Toronto including the Distillery District and St. Lawrence Market.

REGISTRATION: - $275CAD +13%hst = $310.75 CAD.

Registration will open December 1st, 2022 with a deposit of $75 CAD and payment for the $200 balance due by January 4, 2023. We will accept 80 registrations

Starting at 9:00am EST on December 1st - 80 spots will open up here for a $75 deposit to hold your spot. 
You will be confirmed for the retreat when you receive your confirmation email.
After your deposit and spot have been confirmed, you will receive a new invoice for the balance of $200 to pay before or on January 4, 2023.

ACCOMMODATIONS: 2 bedroom suite is $150CAD +13% hst per night. When booking use: EGG2023 in the promo code spot for our special retreat rate - you might want to find a roommate.

COVID SAFETY:

  1. Unless the government changes their Covid regulations, we will not require Covid vaccinations for Pysanky Toronto 2023.
  2. Participants must show a negative Covid test before entering the retreat.
  3. Masks will be optional and at the discretion of each participant.

EGGING ROOMS:

  1. The large egging room will be available 24 hours a day for our group.
  2. Candles will be allowed as long as we attend them at all times and ensure they’re blown out when not in use.
  3. All spaces are air conditioned
  4. Free wifi throughout the building
  5. We will have one large egging room, one smaller classroom that can hold 30 people and one lounge space that holds 15 people for workshops.
  6. There will NOT be a separate hall for meals
  7. Public washrooms are available in our egging area.

WORKSHOPS/PRESENTATIONS:

  1. Workshops & presentations will be announced at a later date.

MEALS:

  1. Coffee, tea, water, fruit & morning pastries will be available every morning.
  2. Take-out lunches will be provided Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
  3. Light evening meals will be provided on Thursday and Saturday.
  4. Friday night dinner is not included and will be a free evening to explore and eat in the Distillery District. 

ACCOMMODATIONS:

  1. Two bedroom suites will be available in “The George” to reserve.
  2. The beds are smaller double size beds and best for one person or one cozy couple.
  3. 24 hour front desk support
  4. Check-in to the suites is between 3pm - 12 midnight and check out is 11am. All guest suites are on the 4th & 5th floors
  5. Attendees will be required to book their own accommodations and find their own roomies. A special code and reservation information will come at a later date.
  6. Bedding is included in the suites however there is only a fridge and microwave in the kitchen. The kitchen is empty of kitchen wares.
  7. Alcohol is accepted but not in the hallways of the rooms floors. It may be consumed inside the suites and conference area. FYI, there wont be any students on guest floors
  8. The egging rooms are on the 2nd floor which have a door to a large community space that features a games lounge, community kitchen, leisure space, and BBQ patio. The views are magnificent and the spaces are sure to impress.
  9. Kitchens/Fitness/Laundry: Common kitchens with full stoves, cooktops, and dining areas are never more than a floor away. In addition, the fitness room ensures you can work out with an amazing view of Toronto without leaving the building. Doing laundry is easy; we have excellent laundry facilities right on site.

LOCATION:

  1. “The George” is a 35 minute drive from Pearson International Airport and an easy 60 minutes using the UP train to Union Station & local transit.
  2. “The George” is a 40 minute walk or Streetcar ride to the CN Tower.
  3. The Cherry Street YMCA featuring a running track, two gyms, a pool, and community garden is connected to the building and offers affordable drop in rates.
  4. The Distillery District is right across the street and along with hosting a variety of festivals, is home to historic pubs, restaurants and shops.
  5. Union Station, the Air Canada Centre, and Rogers Centre are all within walking distance or a short streetcar ride, and there is an endless list of entertainment options nearby.
  6. The George is connected to a café called the Dark Horse Espresso that has coffee as well as Spirits sales, and the walkable neighbourhood includes a grocery store, drug store, walk-in clinic and many other amenities.
  7. Parks:
  • Corktown Commons (green space, splash pad, barbecue, conservation area, trails)
  • David Crombie Park (outdoor basketball courts, green space, baseball diamond, and a playground)

PARKING:

  1. Parking is not provided at the conference centre but there is underground parking owned by Green P. There is no elevator from parking to the suites. You have to take an elevator to street level and walk around to main entrance.
  2. There are 3 parking areas close to the building below; Underground parking link 86 spots.

 Lodging

Lodging is on site. There are 60 two-bedroom suites available on the 5th and 6th floors with the retreat on the 2nd floor of the same building with underground parking.

24 hour front desk, complimentary wifi, air conditioning, laundry ($), check in 3pm, check out 11am, walking distance to the distillery district and parks. Bedding is included. There is no kitchen equipment or utensils.

Each suite is $150 CAD + HST.
