Pros

• Empty shells can be stored indefinitely for future use.
• Works great with larger hard to find eggshells like Turkey, Goose, Ostrich etc.
• Empty shells unwax quickly, because the air inside heats quickly.
• No risk of ruining a finished egg during emptying.

Cons

• Empty shells float; they must be weighed down in dye.
• Hole(s) must be plugged.
• Empty shells are prone to moisture leakage through pores.
• Emptying must be done well in advance; shells must be completely dry before dyeing.
