Working with full shells

Pros

  • Shells are ready as soon as they reach room temperature
  • The inner membrane remains intact and thus prevents moisture leaks
  • Eggs sink in dye
  • Easy to hold

Cons

  • Risk of damaging finished work during emptying
  • Must be varnished or covered in wax before emptying
  • Full shells take much longer to unwax than empty shells

Make sure the areas around the holes are heavily waxed to keep the whites from thinning the dye.

I don’t empty my eggs at all. The contents eventually just evaporate. Is that weird??
