#07. Ancient Echoes: Trypillian Workshop - Oksana Bilous Tuesday July 21st 7:00pm-9:00pm

Workshop Summary:

Step back in time and discover the ancient artistry of the Trypillian culture in this immersive master class with Oksana Bilous. In this Master Class, you’ll begin with a short video introducing the fascinating world of Trypillian history, followed by a close look at original ceramic samples and their bold, symbolic designs.

Through guided discussion, you’ll explore the main motifs and colour schemes that define this tradition, and learn how to translate these ancient echoes onto a modern pysanka.

With Oksana’s expert instruction, you’ll mark out and create your own Trypillian-inspired pysanka on a brown chicken egg.

Whether you’re new to pysanky or looking to deepen your connection to Ukrainian heritage, this class offers a unique hands-on experience and a meaningful piece of living history.

It will also be possible to purchase a video recording of this class.

About Oksana Bilous:

Oksana Bilous is an acclaimed Ukrainian pysankarka known for her mastery of both traditional and innovative egg decorating techniques, including etching, cutting, and mixed methods on various bird eggs. Born in Kyiv in 1965, she holds a degree in geography and biology education and has been a leader in the pysanky community, co-authoring influential instructional books and curating major collections of Ukrainian folk pysanky.

Her works have been exhibited internationally, and she is recognized as an Honoured Master of Folk Art of Ukraine. Oksana is also the founder of “The Workshop of Oksana Bilous,” where she teaches and shares Ukrainian decorative arts with students of all ages.
