#29. Celtic Tree of Life- Karen Hanlon - Thursday July 23rd - 3:30pm to 5:30pm

Workshop Summary:

In this class you will learn the basics of drawing a Celtic knot band on an egg and will learn to methods ofpencilcopying a design onto your egg.

Divided eggs are provided, but I will also teach how to divide the egg for making celtic bands. Options will be available for various skill levels, and students will be able to choose to work on a white or a brown egg. (Details and options will be sent ahead of the class time so I can prepare eggs for you).

What's Provided:

  • A prepared egg (white or brown)
  • a detailed handout
  • tracing materials
  • a variety of pre-sized images for copying onto eggs
  • quilling paper

What To Bring:

  • Your usual egging tools (including a fine and medium kistka)
  • a hard pencil or tool for rubbing a design onto your egg (soft pencils for tracing the designs will be provided)

Workshop Fee: $40CAD per student plus $5 material fee. Please bring $45.00CAD in cash in an envelope to Karen at the start of class.

Brief "egging resume" for Karen:

I have been writing eggs for over 35 years, and over the last 10 years have taught many different styles at egg retreats in Canada and the USA. I also teach classes locally as well as a credit course in Pysanky for the college where I work as Director of Student Services and sessional professor of Psychology. I write pysanky in my “spare time”, and love the peacefulness and prayerfulness of this art!  

I have 4 wonderful grown children and 5 adorable grandchildren.
